Exercise 1 IVN
Starting out on the design before the first session of the semester had started, I noticed that there was a task sitting right in the google classroom not knowing what it requested specifically. Upon the IVN class's commencement I decided that I would design a more robotic entity without knowing what the requirements maybe, the entity itself was actually heavily inspired by one of my old designs made back when I was somewhat younger, the image itself will be included in the task's file collective.
Looking at the shapes given I wasn't very satisfied with what I could have developed at the time. However, I went along with the materials anyway as my methodical approach to completing tasks had always been improvisation. With the full design already having manifested as a revelation I got to work quickly and swiftly, finishing a good percent of it during the first session of IVN.
Upon using Adobe Illustrator, I noticed the tools and layouts are rather similar to some of the applications I have used throughout my youth so the learning curve in between using transformation tools didn't consume too much time. Due to this fact I was also able to make quick work of the method of my design choices.
When developing the "Vormator" I imagined it to be similar to building Legos as a child, so I decided to base my method of creating the entity of that. And as such I started by making the head with a simple helmet shape with horns built in, then comes the torse which consisted of several chevrons and bars to develop a bulky shape. Since the entity was designed to be more robotic from the start the character would naturally have to take a more rectangular appearance hence the bulky and blocky feel of it all as it took a square oriented body.
I wouldn't want to make it too blocky either as a lot of robotic entities developed back in the days look that way. To ensure that I don't end up repeating an already generic design I added some cobra, wurst, and drop shapes into the design itself. With the Lego building visualization method, the entity came together piece by head starting from the head to the torso, then comes the arms as the legs soon followed. And with the design done I decided to name the entity "Solar Sculptor" The second the appearance was done a story immediately came to my mind which led to the name in the first place.
Though I won't elaborate much on the story for now, I will say that this enigmatic design is simply no random design made for just a task. As I continue to develop this silhouette more and more about this figure would be revealed eventually.
