DPI Task 1 PROJECT 1A: COLLAGE DESIGN ELEMENTS
Out of the three collages that were developed one would be chosen by the lecturer as the best design of the three compositions. But before then there was consultation sessions made there to ensure that we understood the method of making a collage.
During the first week of DPI's module session, we are taught the theories and basics of developing a collage. Things such as the golden ratio were taught to be used for our future collages. The first few collages we were required to make were not digital but physical ones, we were requested to bring several sets of magazines, newspapers, and tools in order to complete this task.
After cutting through various images to create the collages, these were the results:
Moving onto the subsequent sessions we were taught how to use Adobe Photoshop. The earlier theories such as the golden ratio were put to use within these new collages too, it is now time for us to work on the digital collages.
Instead of using our own images, we were asked to download some images provided to work on the digital collage. The images itself still had a white background so it required some tinkering in order to remove it. Using the tools provided within we crop the individual images one by one until all of them can be used to develop the digital collages.
We were required to make three designs with each sticking to a specific rule when developing such as the rule of three and the golden ratio as mentioned earlier. After using Adobe photoshop, the results are:
We were soon required to alter one of the three collage compositions; the chosen design will be the piece that will undergo changes. The composition that was chosen to undergo the process of augmentation was:
