Elaboration on the assignment's overview

This assignment moves us away from Adobe Premere Pro, as we start to mess around with the settings in Adobe Audition. We are to first record a 5 second clip of us uttering out a sentence in our own native language.

Then we are to make 4 versions of the same voice clip as if we are applying a filter onto the existing voice clip to make it sound like we're either in a larger or smaller room and so on.

Assignment Process Breakdown

We first start by importing our recorded voice line into Adobe Audition, but before that we must first start a new file and create a new multitrack to insert the voice line. Once we've inserted the voice line we are to work on the first version which was applying reverb in a way to make our voice appear as if it's originating from a phone call. We first do this by accessing the effects rack on the left side of the screen in order to apply effects into the audio. Then we select the reverb options to mess around with the equalizer in order to achieve the same effect.

Equalizer Settings on Reverb

The second one requires us to make it so that our voice sounds a lot more muffled as if we're speaking from inside a closet. As for this one we are to utilize a slightly different option on the effects rack. Called a parametric equalizer, then are to drag around the fade and volume settings here such as the L and H points here. Doing so will achieve the muffled effect of our voices being drowned out earlier as seen visually here.

Parametric Equalizer Alterations

The third one requires us to turn out voice line into that of a person speaking from underground or in an room that produces significant echo like a cave. Much like the first version, we're going to mess around with the reverb option on the effects rack again as you'd associate echoes with such an effect. They key difference is us selecting a different preset that allows us to gain the effect of a larger space called "Bigger Room Ambience" Accessible on the panel above when opened, then alter the equalizer accordingly until you achieve a proper echo effect.

The last one allows us the freedom of messing around with our voice even more as we are only instructed to make it sound like some form of alien free to our interpretation of course. For this last one in particular, we are allowed more freedom, so I've decided to applied distortion and a pitch shifter. For the Distortion effect I've decided throw in the Tape Drive effect and also applied the dark lord setting on the pitch shifter.
